A personal finance app for your accounts, budgets and recurring bills. Click through it like any finance app, or tell mai what happened: "40 on groceries yesterday", "set a 500 dining budget", "what did we spend eating out in March?"

The assistant can work with every part of the app: accounts, transactions, budgets, categories, merchants and recurring bills. It adds and edits entries, sets up budgets, prepares a statement import for you to review, and answers questions about your spending from your actual ledger. You choose the model: a cloud provider, or one running locally through Ollama.

mai can take a snapshot before it changes anything and roll back to it if the result is not what you meant. Deleted transactions, categories and budgets go to a recovery list, so nothing disappears for good by accident.

Set up rent, subscriptions and paydays once. When they fall due they wait for you to confirm, or post themselves if you switch that on. Merchants are recognised from how they appear on your statements and filed under their usual category.

Each account has its own currency, and totals and budgets are kept per currency. maiBooks does not convert between them, so a dollar total is always dollars.

Your books live in a local database and the app works with no network at all. Turn on sync when you want the same books on a second machine.
